McCreary Homes was one of two or three companies that our real estate agent, Eloise Perry from Long Realty, gave us when we first decided to build our home. She told us that all three had good reputations but at the time didn’t indicate a preference for one over the others. In order to make our decision, we sat down and interviewed each of the builders. We decided to go with LJ McCreary because we felt that he was the best fit based on our conversations.
At the beginning, we also knew that we would need an architect to work with and LJ recommended a Phoenix architect, John Westberg. We were not living in Tucson yet, so over the course of the next year we worked long distance with both LJ McCreary and John designing the house and making additions and changes to the plans.
Once we moved and the actual building began, we worked closely with LJ throughout the process. Overall, our experience with McCreary Homes was very good, on a scale of 1-10, I would give them a 9 ½. LJ McCreary is a very conscientious man and builder. During the building of our home, I was up at the home site with the crews pretty much every day of the week, not to check on them, but to be involved in the process. Of course, LJ was usually around and on hand to make sure things were going as they should. He was very accommodating and he continued to be that way throughout the building.
When the home was finished, we were very happy with it. Everything was built as we agreed upon it in the contract. Eleven years later, our experience with that home was the reason we called LJ McCreary and McCreary Homes for a second remodeling job on another house. It was a simple decision for us…we never thought of going with anyone else. And if we were going to build another home, we would go with him again, no doubt.
The first home that McCreary Homes built for us was great. The remodel had a few things that we would have changed. The cabinets were made by a different cabinetmaker than our first home. I wish we would have stayed with the first one. But, other than that, we have been very pleased.
One of the things that stands out about McCreary Homes is the fact that LJ is very available. If I have any problem I can call LJ and he will always have someone sent out there or come himself to resolve the issue. I know that I have done that in the past and I feel that I can still do that to this day.
I feel absolutely comfortable recommending LJ McCreary as a builder to family and friends. As a matter of fact, I recommended him to some very good friends living in River Bend. They are very happy with their McCreary home. So I wouldn’t have any qualms about recommending LJ McCreary to anyone in the future.
