When we decided to build our home, I looked up different builders and checked Sahba for their list of trusted custom home builders. LJ McCreary was one of twenty names that I took down to check into. I called references for about 8 and narrowed it down to about 3, and the three were very good. After interviewing each of them, I selected LJ due to the quality of his product and because I felt that he was confident and trustworthy. I wanted someone that I felt compatible with because you are almost living with someone while building a home. LJ McCreary always listened to me and gave his opinions.
McCreary Homes completely delivered on their promises. Even with the tons of change orders, everything worked out. We even ended up adding a whole room with about 100 square feet—because of the way the house was built it was easy to add the extension. It was one of the least expensive parts of the whole house.
I remember going around the house during the final walkthrough and being very happy with everything. But, LJ pointed some things out that I didn’t see, said he didn’t like them and that they’d need to be changed. I remember very clearly, it was the outside under hang over the garage doors. I didn’t see it, but he pointed it out and got them changed. That really impressed me.
The entire process went very smoothly, and we were very happy with the quality of our home. The subcontractors that we worked with were also excellent. Overall, our collaboration with him went very well. We’ve been here in our McCreary home for 14 years and we still love it. And we’re still friends. LJ is a good guy. He is conscientious and enjoyable to work with. If there were any differences of opinion, we collaborated and listened to each other.
Even after our home was built, LJ has continued to offer great service. After the warranty was over, we had a little problem with one of the posts. LJ fixed it at no cost and later felt that the correction was a better solution than before. He was very helpful down the road…and this was at least eight years later.
If I build another home, I will certainly go with McCreary Homes again. Additionally, I have recommended LJ McCreary to several people over the years. As a matter of fact, I have one friend that is building with him now. So, I guess you could say that I am an enthusiastic client of his. When you build a house, you have to count on the builder a lot. You have to trust them and I have no reason to this day not to trust LJ McCreary and McCreary Homes.
